ADVANTA and Baidyanath Biofuels Private Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate to source ADVANTA’s high-quality maize hybrids for bioethanol production. This partnership represents a significant step toward realizing India’s National Biofuels Policy goals of achieving 20% ethanol blending with petrol by 2025-26. The MOU was signed on 15th July 2024, followed by a visit on 13th August 2024 to Baidyanath’s state-of-the-art 250 KLPD Grain-Based Ethanol Plant located at Butibori Industrial Area in Nagpur.
This collaboration leverages ADVANTA’s expertise in high-yield maize hybrids and Baidyanath’s ethanol production capabilities. Initial trials have demonstrated that ADVANTA maize significantly boosts ethanol yield, paving the way for commercial-scale implementation. ADVANTA will also support maize farmers within a 50-100 km radius of the distillery by:
The collaboration is guided by India’s National Policy on Biofuels, which prioritizes sustainable feedstocks for bioethanol production to address growing energy needs. Key objectives of this initiative include:
- Boosting Ethanol Production: Enhancing maize-based ethanol supply by increasing maize yields and ensuring availability.
- Capacity Building: Empowering farmers with knowledge of best practices, agronomic techniques, and market access.
- Improving Stakeholder Linkages: Creating an integrated ecosystem from farm to distillery for seamless production and supply.
- Promoting High-Yield Maize Hybrids: Supporting sustainable practices through the use of Advanta’s genetically superior maize seeds with high starch content, essential for ethanol yield.
