FueLNG, Singapore’s licensed LNG bunkering provider, has completed its 400th ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation. The milestone was achieved with the refuelling of BYD Shenzhen, the world’s largest LNG-fuelled car carrier, during its maiden voyage at the Singapore anchorage.
The operation was conducted using FueLNG Bellina, the joint venture’s LNG bunker vessel. FueLNG is a collaboration between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Eastern Petroleum Pte Ltd.
The BYD Shenzhen, operated by BYD, has a vehicle capacity of 9,200 and runs on dual-fuel LNG propulsion. It represents an increasing shift among shipowners toward adopting lower-emission technologies in vessel design and operations.
Shell, the LNG bunker supplier for this voyage, noted that the vessel is equipped to use bio-LNG and, in the future, e-LNG—supporting further reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and alignment with evolving regulatory requirements.
