As part of their continued partnership to promote the use of bio-LNG, Finland-based energy business Gasum has supplied bio-LNG to two tugboats run by Norwegian energy giant Equinor. As per the deal, Gasum will use bio-LNG to bunker Equinor’s tugboats Bokn and Borgøy through 2025. The first Borgøy bunkering had already taken place in Kårstø on February 14.
The most recent deal between Equinor and Gasum is an expansion of their ongoing partnership. With a long-term deal that was already renewed in 2024, Gasum will continue to deliver LNG to Equinor’s dual-fuel contracted fleet of boats as part of the firms’ bunkering agreement.
The agreement expands on their prior agreement by adding support services like cooling down and gassing up. Following up on the arrangement, Gasum sent bio-LNG to Equinor’s Island Crusader, a contracted platform supply vessel, in the Port of Dusavik, Stavanger, in 2024.
