Honeywell revolutionizes ethanol-to-jet-fuel technology

Honeywell announced a new, innovative ethanol-to-jet fuel (ETJ) processing technology that allows producers to convert corn-based, cellulosic, or sugar-based ethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Depending on the type of ethanol feedstock used, jet fuel produced from Honeywell’s ethanol-to-jet fuel process can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80% on a total lifecycle basis, compared

Honeywell’s technology converts ethanol-to-SAF

Honeywell announced an innovative ethanol-to-jet fuel (ETJ) processing technology that allows producers to convert corn-based, cellulosic, or sugar-based ethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Demand for SAF continues to grow but the aviation industry is challenged by limited supplies of traditional SAF feedstocks such as vegetable oils, animal fats and waste oils, says the release.

EBP plant to be set up in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu will soon hop on the Ethanol Based Petrol (EBP) bandwagon, as the expert appraisal committee (EAC) of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has approved the construction of the State’s first grain-based ethanol plant in Virudhunagar. As per the EAC report, the new distillery will be set up by a private firm

Biofuel production slightly dips in the US

US ethanol and biodiesel capacity were down slightly in July. Renewable diesel capacity, however, continued to expand and is poised to surpass operatable biodiesel capacity, according to data released by the US Energy Information Administration on Sept. 30. Feedstock consumption was up for the month. Total US operable biofuels production capacity reached 21.469 billion gallons

EPA discloses guidance on ethanol production

The U.S. EPA updated guidance that describes three additional ways ethanol plants that co-process corn kernel fiber and corn starch can demonstrate the resulting volume of cellulosic biofuel produced. The new guidance supplements guidance released in May 2019 that focused on quantifying an analytical method for determining the cellulosic converted fraction of corn kernel fiber

Tata Motors to expand its portfolio with alternative fuels

Tata Motors, one of top automotive companies in India, plans to expand its portfolio of commercial vehicles run by alternative fuel, said the company’s top official. There are six types of alternative fuels available in India — CNG, Compressed Biogas (CBG), autogas (LPG), ethanol-blended petrol, biodiesel and hydrogen energy. The company, he said, has been

Study finds corn-based ethanol contributes to global warming

Corn-based ethanol, which for years has been mixed in huge quantities into gasoline sold at U.S. pumps, is likely a much bigger contributor to global warming than straight gasoline, according to a published story. The study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, contradicts previous research commissioned by the US Department of

Mishtann plans ethanol production facility in Gujarat

Mishtann Food Limited has announced plans to set up a 1,000 Kilolitres Per Day (KLPD) grain-based ethanol manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Mishtann Foods is engaged in the production and marketing of a large variety of rice, pulses and other edible products and is looking to set up its manufacturing facility in Dalpur village of Sabarkantha

First ethanol plant in Chhattisgarh to be constructed in Kabirdham district
