BYD launches first dedicated roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) carrier, EXPLORER NO.1. The vessel, inaugurated at Yantai Port in Shandong Province, represents a pioneering shift in maritime transportation for NEVs.
EXPLORER NO.1, measuring 199.9 meters, showcases BYD’s commitment to sustainability through cutting-edge green and intelligent shipbuilding technologies. With a loading capacity of 7,000 vehicles, the vessel boasts an innovative dual-fuel LNG (liquefied natural gas) and conventional fuel propulsion system, setting the standard for eco-friendly shipping.
In 2023, the company’s NEV exports surged with a staggering year-on-year growth of 334.2%, reaching 242,765 units. The company’s total annual NEV sales exceeded 3.02 million units, solidifying its position as the world’s leading seller of new energy vehicles. With a global presence spanning six continents, it engages over 70 countries and regions, impacting more than 400 cities. The successful launch of EXPLORER NO.1 not only enhances its international logistics capabilities but also signifies a collaborative effort to establish Chinese automakers on the global stage.
