Wah Kwong, a shipowner and manager from Hong Kong, has partnered with CIMC ENRIC, a developer of clean energy technology, to provide green methanol bunkering applications, logistics, and bunkering services.
A 50,000-ton-per-year green methanol facility in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, China, is now in the earliest stages of development and should be operational later this year, according to CIMC ENRIC.
The businesses stated that they would work together to explore investment options and create a strategic collaboration for renewable fuel initiatives. CIMC ENRIC will manufacture and provide green methanol in accordance with EU and International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) requirements. Wah Kwong will act as an offtaker and be in charge of downstream operations, market promotion, and the transportation of the green methanol from shore tanks to purchasers.
It will start a green methanol bunkering pilot project in the Greater Bay Area of China, where the companies’ headquarters are situated in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
