Logistics giant DHL and green technology provider Envision Group announced a new partnership aimed at advancing sustainability innovations in logistics and energy, with a particular focus on sustainable aviation fuel.
Founded in 2007, Shanghai-based Envision provides renewable energy system solutions for global enterprises, governments and institutions, with a focus on areas including smart wind turbines, energy storage, and green hydrogen solutions.
According to the companies, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) will be a key focus area of the new partnership, with Envision supplying SAF for DHL, in addition to exploring renewable feedstock sources and technology routes to advance decarbonization in the air transportation sector.
Scaling the use of sustainable aviation fuels forms a significant part of DHL’s Sustainability Roadmap. Launched in 2021, the roadmap includes a series of decarbonization and environmental sustainability commitments encompassing the introduction of more ambitious climate targets and linking executive compensation to ESG goals. DHL’s targets include using at least 30% of SAF blending for all air transport by 2030.
Additional areas covered under the partnership include green energy, with Envision providing comprehensive energy transition solutions through green power procurements to support DHL’s renewable energy goals, and logistics, with the partnership establishing DHL as a key strategic partner for Envision’s development plans as the company’s preferred logistics partner.
Under the new agreement, DHL and Envision will also explore the joint development of a Net Zero Industrial & Logistic Park, aimed at fostering sustainable solutions across multiple industries. The net zero industrial park model would be fully powered by a comprehensive clean energy solution, advancing new electric power systems models and fostering green industrial ecosystems, to accelerate the global green transition for customers. The Net Zero Industrial Park has already been launched by Envision in Asia and parts of Europe and the Middle East, and will expand its global footprint with DHL’s support.
