DP World and Zhejiang Seaport Group have announced a comprehensive strategic cooperation to boost port logistics and shipping routes between Jebel Ali Port in Dubai and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in China.
The partnership aims to attract shipping companies to establish additional maritime routes and encourage cooperation through slot exchanges and vessel space purchases, enhancing connectivity and efficiency between the two maritime hubs.
The collaboration will also focus on promoting the construction of green and low-carbon ports.
This includes establishing an information-sharing mechanism and exchanging experiences in green terminal construction, the use of shore power, and refuelling green ships with environmentally friendly fuels such as LNG and green methanol.
The partnership will promote low-carbon facilities in ports, expand the application of new energy, encourage the use of clean fuels by ships, and establish a green shipping corridor between Jebel Ali Port and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.
The initiative aims to contribute to the green transition of the shipping industry.
The agreement will also explore investment opportunities in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and Zhejiang Free Trade Zone and support automobile logistics by leveraging Dubai’s regional transit hub advantages and China’s status as a major automotive exporter to facilitate Ro-Ro trade between Ningbo-Zhoushan Port and Jebel Ali in Dubai.
