MSC orders 10 LNG ships

Container shipping major MSC has ordered ten LNG-fuelled boxships. Shipbrokers say that the order involves Neopanamax vessels (11,400 TEU) and that the company is paying around $120 million per vessel. Chinese shipbuilder Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard is believed to have won the construction contract. The vessels are slated for delivery in 2025 and 2026. MSC

Navios Maritime invests $241m for dual-fuel boxship newbuilds

Navios Maritime Partners has agreed to purchase two newbuild liquified natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel 7,700 teu containerships for $241.2m. The two boxships have been chartered-out for 12 years to an undisclosed liner at an average rate of $42,288 per day. The deal can be extended for an additional two years at $24,875 per day. The
