NZTC gets funding for hydrogen project

The Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) has received a grant of £2.12 million ($2.36 million) from the Scottish government’s Just Transition Fund to support its Hydrogen Offshore Production Project (HOP2). HOP2, a four-year development, will demonstrate whether offshore hydrogen production and storage is feasible at a scale of 500 MW to 1 GW through repurposing

Worlds’s first offshore hydrogen production unit launched

The world’s first offshore hydrogen production unit has been inaugurated in the port of Saint-Nazaire, France, ahead of its official trials off the Atlantic coast. The unit, called Sealhyfe, will, following a phase of dockside tests, connect to BW Ideol’s landmark floating offshore wind turbine operating at the Ecole Centrale de Nantes (ECN) SEM-REV test

ONGC signs six contracts for three offshore fields

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has signed six contracts for Discovered Small Fields (DSF) in offshore, with three each for fields in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. The contracts were obtained under the DSF-III bid round. These also include four contract areas as a sole bidder and 2 contract areas in partnership

Statkraft and H2Carrier agree to study green ammonia production

Statkraft has entered into a memorandum of understanding with compatriot firm H2Carrier to study the possible use of green ammonia floating production vessels at certain offshore wind locations. Based on proven floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) technologies, H2Carrier’s concept, called P2XFloater, uses renewable wind, solar or hydro energy to produce green hydrogen by pumping

New York releases offshore wind solicitation for clean energy development

New York has released its third competitive offshore wind solicitation, seeking enough clean, renewable energy to power at least 1.5m homes in the state. The procurement, administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), includes the first phase of a $500m investment in offshore wind ports, manufacturing, and supply chain infrastructure

DESMI OptiSave installations have reached accumulated savings of 1- million-tonnes CO2

DESMI has installed, approximately, 700 OptiSaveTM systems which altogether have generated accumulated CO2 reductions corresponding to 1-million-ton CO2. This equals what a 16,000-hectare Rain Forest consumes a year. DESMI´s Energy Saving Solution, named OptiSaveTM, offers simple power management for energy efficiency compliance. When installing a pump, normal procedure is to have it run at full

ONGC plans launch oil and gas exploration in Andaman

ONGC plans to launch the drilling campaign in the Andaman offshore after the monsoon and is currently engaged in talks with ExxonMobil and Shell to involve them in the project. ONGC is expected to drill 3-4 wells under the special programme funded by the government in the Andaman Sea, with each well costing about Rs

ClassNK issues approval for J-DeEP’s floating hydrogen plant design

ClassNK, a Tokyo-based ship classification society, issued an Approval in Principle (AiP) for the design of a floating offshore hydrogen production plant developed by Japan Offshore Design & Engineering Platform Technology & Engineering Research Association (J-DeEP). The amount of power generated by offshore wind turbines is likely affected by weather conditions, and surplus electricity may

Offshore green hydrogen production viable once market reaches maturity stage

The market for offshore production of green hydrogen using wind energy will become more commercially viable with an increase in market maturity, driven by investment in technology and innovation. This is according to findings from the BEHYOND study, conducted by a consortium of EDP, TechnipFMC, CEiiA, WavEC, and the Norwegian University USN to assess the
