DOE funds biomass-to-hydrogen projects

The US Department of Energy on Aug. 17 awarded $34 million to 19 industry- and university-led research projects that will advance cutting-edge technology solutions for clean hydrogen. Several of the projects address biomass-to-hydrogen technologies. The selected projects will focus on developing technologies that could help produce clean hydrogen at lower cost and with less energy;

Hydrogen projects continue to accelerate

The announced projects represent $320 billion investments through 2030. While renewable generation is projected to reach 80 per cent of the global energy mix by 2050, this will require annual investments in energy supply and production of circa $1.5 trillion by 2035.

Australia to accelerate clean energy projects

Australia will invest A$2 billion ($1.4 billion) to scale up development of its renewable hydrogen industry, the government announced in its annual budget, as it looks to accelerate clean energy projects in the country. Funds will be allocated under a “Hydrogen Headstart” programme that provides revenue support for large-scale renewable hydrogen projects through competitive hydrogen

Gujarat gives nod land allocation for green hydrogen projects

The government of Gujarat has approved a draft land allocation policy for green hydrogen projects, with land parcels totalling 1.99 lakh hectare set aside for five major industrial houses. The move comes as India pushes towards a major transition to green hydrogen production, with the government also preparing an incentive policy to encourage its production.
