Dockendale and Green Marine pioneer methanol-driven maritime venture

Dockendale Ship Management DMC Co, based in Dubai, and Copenhagen’s Green Marine have announced a groundbreaking joint venture, Dockendale Green Marine Ship Management.

This venture marks the creation of the world’s first ship management company focused exclusively on managing methanol-powered vessels, a significant step towards sustainable maritime operations.

The new company will offer fully integrated crewing and technical management services, with its strategic headquarters located in Dubai. The leadership team features Vikrant Gusain as CEO, Morten Jacobsen as COO, Fredrik Stubner as CTO, and Michael Herb as CFO, bringing together a wealth of experience and expertise in the maritime industry.

The collaboration between Dockendale and Green Marine is a pivotal move in redefining environmental standards in shipping. It aligns with the industry’s ongoing transition to cleaner and more sustainable marine transportation, addressing the growing need for eco-friendly alternatives in the global shipping sector.

As of the latest reports, there are currently 25 methanol-fueled vessels in service. These vessels are predominantly tankers, with a surge in orders for methanol-fueled containerships, indicating a growing industry shift toward this eco-friendlier fuel source. In total, there are 81 such ships scheduled for delivery by 2028, part of a broader trend that has seen the number of methanol ships in the works reach 120.
