Huangpu Wenchong receives AIP from CCS for ships using methanol and ammonia

For two dual fuel ships, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company has obtained Approval in Principle (AIP) certificates from the China Classification Society (CCS).

These AIPs have been granted for the Haijing 82000T methanol dual fuel bulk carrier and the Honghu 3500TEU ammonia dual fuel container ship.

Part of the Honghu SWAN series, the Honghu 3500TEU container ship has a big loading capacity and uses less fuel than comparable models—by about 10% per day.

The Haiying 82000T methanol dual fuel bulk carrier may incorporate a number of energy-saving technologies, such as wind-assisted propulsion and shaft-mounted generators, and is built to meet new standards.

It provides a variety of alternative fuel options.

At a launch conference in Pudong, Shanghai, Zhou Liwei, deputy general manager of the CCS Guangzhou Branch, introduced the AIPs.
