Työvene will construct two plug-in battery-hybrid ships in its €20 million plus contract, which is based on a concept created by Norwegian ship designer Multi Maritime AS. The vessels will serve the route between Strömstad and the Koster islands on Sweden’s west coast. This will be Torghatten’s first regular ferry service in Sweden, beginning in December 2025. The two new boats, each with a capacity of 248 passengers, will entirely work on electricity. In April 2025, Työvene and four other businesses will join Summa Defence, a defense and security technology firm, as subsidiaries.
