Godavari Biorefineries Limited (GBL), a leading manufacturer of ethanol-based chemicals and one of India’s biggest producers of ethanol, signed a licensing deal with Catalyxx Inc. for the conversion of ethanol to biobutanol and other higher alcohols.
The license cost is worth $1,931,850. A royalty on the gross sales of the licensed products produced in the plant will be paid by the licensee to the licensor in addition to the licensing fee. Benefits for early adopters of technology are included in this evaluation. An exclusive license to manufacture the Licensed Products in the Manufacturing Region for the Field of Use is granted by the Licensor to the Licensee. A nonexclusive and nontransferable license to promote and sell the licensed products globally is also granted by the Licensor to the Licensee, with no sublicensing rights.
By commercializing the technology, the licensee hopes to use the licensed IPR to build a chemical facility that can produce up to 30,000 metric tons of licensed products. The Licensor is willing to issue a license based on the terms and conditions specified in the Agreement.
GBL recently revealed that it is also looking at the manufacture of ethanol from grains during a conference call to review the company’s financial performance for the second quarter ended September 30, 2024.
