India to achieve 20% ethanol blending target by February: Hardeep Singh Puri

By February 2025, India is anticipated to reach the 20% ethanol blending goal, according to the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The goal of achieving 20% base fuel blending was originally scheduled to be accomplished by 2030, but it was later changed to be accomplished by the end of 2025.

“We are not only confident of achieving 20 per cent in a very short period of time, but like Brazil and other countries are beginning to look at what the journey beyond 20 per cent is going to be like,” the Union Minister stated while speaking at the 3rd International Symposium for Thriving Eco-Energy in Mobility, which was held on the sidelines of the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. According to him, the almost 67 million people who visit the nation’s gas stations daily are now receiving base fuel mixed with ethanol due to the country’s growing fuel use, which is driving both overall consumption and the amount of biofuel blended.
