Norden completes first B100 biofuel bunkering

Norden has marked the first ever B100 biofuel bunkering in Singapore.

The company was commissioned by Japan-based trading company ITOCHU Corporation to conduct the B100 biofuel bunkering, following the trial of a B24/VLSFO blend on Panamax vessel Nord Taurus.

The bunkering was carried out with support from bunker supplier Mitsui & Co. Energy Trading Singapore (METS), a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co.

In 2023, biofuel sales in Singapore reached 520,000 tonnes according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), representing a material increase on the prior year when volumes were 140,000 tonnes.

Last year, Norden invested into MASH Makes, a Danish-Indian biofuel scale-up which researches, develops and produces renewable fuels from biomass waste. The two companies have collaborated on the use of biofuels since 2021.
