Green industry deal: Shipowners want more funds

European shipowners are requesting greater funding from the EU to change the maritime business. In particular, the EU ETS revenue is at issue. The EU’s recently enacted “Clean Industrial Deal” (CID) serves as the backdrop for this need. The goal of this program is to increase the competitiveness and carbon neutrality of the European industry.

[WEBINAR]Decarbonising Shipping: Issues and Challenges

COP26 Climate Summit held at Glasgow in November 2021 has brought the focus back on to environment and climate change issues in the world. Several countries have pledged to take steps to cut down the carbon emissions and tread on the path towards green transition with set targets for NetZero emissions. In the series of

De-risking 2030 will help shipowners in 2050

Waiting until 2028, and then following the lead of others, is a very high-risk decarbonisation strategy. No single fuel and energy conversion technology is going to satisfy the requirements of every shipowner, so each must develop their own decarbonisation strategy and use 2030 targets to evaluate the solutions that could then take them through to

Methanol to be available for shipowners from 2024

German engine manufacturer MAN Energy Solutions has revealed its plans to work on upgrading its four-stroke engines to run on green future fuels, including methanol and ammonia. As informed, the company will in due course enable shipowners to use so-called “future fuels” –such as ammonia, methanol and hydrogen – also produced in a climate-neutral manner.
