Engineering and consulting company Wood has been selected by TA’ZIZ to provide project management consultancy (PMC) services for the development of the United Arab Emirates’ inaugural methanol production plant in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi.
Slated for completion by 2028, the facility is expected to become one of the world’s largest methanol plants, with an anticipated annual output of 1.8 million tonnes. The plant will utilize advanced clean energy technologies to ensure high energy efficiency standards.
Gerry Traynor, President of Eastern Hemisphere Projects at Wood, noted that this contract reinforces the company’s strength in delivering large-scale, complex infrastructure in the Middle East—a region identified as strategically important for growth. He highlighted the collaboration as a testament to Wood’s global expertise in downstream chemical projects and comprehensive project management capabilities.
Approximately 40 consultants from Wood will be deployed to support the project, working in conjunction with specialists from the firm’s regional energy transition hub. They will coordinate closely with TA’ZIZ’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner to ensure successful execution of the project.
