Zodiac Maritime has taken delivery of the Jisu Glory, the last in a series of 7,000 CEU dual-fuel pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) constructed by CIMC Raffles, a subsidiary of China International Marine Containers (CIMC). The handover took place on September 8, according to the shipbuilder.
The delivery concludes a program of ten dual-fuel vessels ordered by the UK-based company. The first ship in the series, BYD Explorer No.1, was delivered on January 8, 2025, and chartered to China’s electric vehicle manufacturer BYD. That delivery marked the beginning of domestic transport for China’s car exports on locally built vessels.
The series of PCTCs is designed to operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG) as one of their primary fuels. The use of LNG is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with carbon dioxide output projected to fall by 20–30 percent compared with conventional fuel-powered ships.
