Wärtsilä Expands Lifecycle Agreement with Seagems to Boost Fleet Efficiency and Sustainability

Helsinki / Rio de Janeiro, 8 October 2025Technology group Wärtsilä has renewed and expanded its Lifecycle Agreement with Seagems, a Brazil-based offshore operator formerly known as Sapura, to cover its fleet of offshore support vessels. The new agreement was booked by Wärtsilä in Q3 2025 and marks an expansion in both scope and strategic collaboration between the two companies.

The expanded partnership is designed to enhance vessel reliability, optimise operational performance, and reduce carbon emissions across Seagems’ fleet. It also underscores a broader maritime industry shift toward long-term, data-driven service models that integrate predictive maintenance, remote monitoring, and decarbonisation strategies.

Ricardo Bicudo, Chief Operating Officer at Seagems, said:
“Over the years, Wärtsilä has delivered high quality, value-adding services to our offshore support vessels. The renewal and expansion of the existing agreement will support our long-term operational goals for these vessels, particularly in enhancing efficiency, reliability and sustainability.”

Under the new agreement, Seagems will gain access to Wärtsilä’s suite of digital and performance optimisation tools, including upgraded power and control management software, the Wärtsilä Data Collection Unit with cloud-based analytics, and remote performance monitoring. These systems provide continuous visibility into fleet operations and enable proactive maintenance to minimise downtime and unplanned repairs.

A key element of the agreement is Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight, a predictive maintenance solution that uses real-time vessel data to detect potential issues before they disrupt operations. The agreement also includes field services for engines and propulsion systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable performance throughout each vessel’s lifecycle.

Henrik Wilhelms, Director of Agreement Sales, Wärtsilä Marine, commented:
“This renewed contract further strengthens our long-standing partnership with Seagems, reflecting confidence in our shared commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth in the marine sector. Our goal is always to achieve greater operational efficiency, reduced downtime, and enhanced predictability, while also supporting our customers on their journey towards decarbonisation.”

The expanded deal aligns with Wärtsilä’s focus on collaborative lifecycle partnerships, enabling marine operators to achieve greater predictability, lower operational costs, and measurable progress toward net-zero emissions.
