Everllence has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WE Tech Solutions to explore strategic cooperation on electrification, energy efficiency and decarbonisation technologies for the global maritime industry.
The partnership aims to combine the companies’ expertise in electrical integration, retrofit engineering and lifecycle services to help shipowners improve vessel efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions.
The agreement also expands the capabilities of PrimeServ Omnicare, Everllence’s multi-OEM service platform, by adding advanced retrofit and electrification solutions to its existing aftermarket offering.
Partnership Targets Maritime Electrification
The MoU was signed during Posidonia 2026 in Athens by Henri Kinnunen, CEO of WE Tech Solutions, and Thomas Andreassen, Global Business Development Manager at Everllence PrimeServ Omnicare.
Under the agreement, the companies will collaborate on:
- Electrification and energy management solutions
- Retrofit projects to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions
- Global commissioning, service and lifecycle support
The collaboration reflects the increasing electrification of commercial vessels as shipowners seek practical solutions to meet tightening environmental regulations and improve operational performance.
Expanding PrimeServ Omnicare’s Retrofit Offering
Everllence said the partnership represents another step in developing PrimeServ Omnicare as a customer-focused, multi-OEM solutions platform capable of delivering retrofit and decarbonisation projects alongside traditional maintenance and spare parts services.
By combining WE Tech’s electrical systems expertise with Everllence’s global engineering and service network, the companies aim to provide integrated solutions for both new and existing vessels.
Henri Kinnunen, CEO of WE Tech Solutions, said:
“The maritime industry is at a pivotal point in its transition towards lower emissions. By combining WE Tech’s electrification technologies with Everllence’s global service capabilities, we can support customers with integrated, practical solutions that improve efficiency while reducing environmental impact.”
Thomas Andreassen, Global Business Development Manager at Everllence PrimeServ Omnicare, added:
“The maritime industry is entering a new phase where electrification, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation are becoming increasingly interconnected. This partnership strengthens the PrimeServ organization’s ability to support customers in that transition.”
He continued:
“Everllence engines power a substantial share of the global commercial fleet, giving us a unique opportunity to help shipowners achieve meaningful fuel savings and reduce emissions through practical retrofit solutions. By combining WE Tech’s expertise in hybrid systems and electrical integration with our global engineering and service organisation, we can deliver solutions that create measurable value for customers.”
Andreassen concluded:
“We look forward to working with WE Tech and supporting the maritime industry’s journey towards a more sustainable future, fully aligned with Everllence’s ambition of Moving Big Things to Zero.”
Pilot Retrofit Project Under Discussion
The companies have already begun collaborating on retrofit solutions involving Power Take-Off (PTO) and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) upgrades for two-stroke and four-stroke vessels during scheduled dry dockings.
They are currently discussing a pilot project covering up to 33 vessels.
According to the companies, PTO and VFD upgrades can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by allowing ships to avoid operating auxiliary engines while maintaining reliable onboard power generation. The technology is expected to benefit vessels with high electrical loads, including LNG carriers and container ships with large refrigerated cargo capacity, regardless of engine manufacturer.
