COSCO Shipping names methanol-powered ore carrier for October delivery

COSCO Shipping Bulk has named its latest vessel, the 325,000 DWT YUANHAISILU, which is equipped with methanol dual-fuel propulsion. The bulk carrier, measuring 340 metres in length, is currently undergoing sea trials in preparation for its scheduled delivery in October.

The introduction of the vessel into the fleet signifies a strategic move by COSCO to reduce shipping emissions within the large ore trade sector. While the vessel is designed for dry bulk operations, it reflects broader industry efforts to decarbonize maritime logistics, part of a growing trend among major carriers toward sustainable shipping solutions across various segments.
