ONEX Shipyards signs agreement with Antipollution to build eco vessels in Greece

ONEX Shipyards and Technologies Group has signed an agreement with Antipollution, a member of the V Group, for the design and construction of four ecological vessels, with an option for four additional units.

The agreement was signed during the Posidonia 2026 international exhibition in the presence of Greece’s Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Vasilis Kikilias.

Four eco vessels to be built in Greece

The vessels will be designed and constructed entirely in Greece, using the facilities and capabilities of ONEX’s Elefsina Shipyards and the historic Syros Shipyards at Neorio.

The vessels will be classed by ABS and will incorporate technologies for collecting ship-generated waste and transporting it to shore-based facilities. Their design will comply with international MARPOL requirements for preventing pollution from ships.

The vessels will also be equipped to support operations during marine pollution incidents and maritime emergencies.

Project expands specialised shipbuilding capabilities

The agreement brings together ONEX’s shipbuilding infrastructure in Elefsina and Syros for the construction of vessels intended for environmental services and emergency response operations.

Panos Xenokostas, Founder and President of ONEX Shipyards and Technologies Group and President of the Association of Hellenic Shipyards, described the agreement as a clear demonstration of ONEX’s strength, infrastructure and expertise to design and build any specialised vessel required by the global market on Greek soil. He framed the project as a new chapter for the Greek shipbuilding industry, positioning ONEX not merely as a follower of green shipping developments but as an active shaper of them across its Elefsina and Syros facilities.
