bigbasket, a Tata enterprise, has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) delivery fleet to 50 cities across India through a partnership with Kazam. The initiative is aimed at reducing emissions across its logistics operations and scaling up the company’s EV infrastructure.
The collaboration has enabled bigbasket to integrate advanced energy management and fleet monitoring technologies. The company currently operates over 4,000 charging points across 773 locations nationwide. These facilities are equipped with continuous surveillance, LEVAC compliance protocols and systems designed for minimal downtime.
Through centralized monitoring, bigbasket manages energy consumption, optimizes delivery routes and driver performance, and controls operational costs. The company aims to transition 60 percent of its delivery fleet to electric by 2030.
TK Balakumar, Chief Operating Officer at bigbasket, noted that the expansion aligns with broader efforts to build a logistics network that is cost-effective and environmentally accountable.
To date, bigbasket has delivered over 64 million kilometres using electric vehicles, accounting for more than 3.2 GWh of clean energy use in its logistics operations.
Kazam supports the EV rollout by providing interoperable charging infrastructure, energy monitoring tools and driver systems. These technologies are designed to support real-time decision-making and improve fleet reliability.
According to Kazam’s Vibhav Tyagi, the partnership shows how data-led energy systems can help scale green delivery networks without disruption to operations.
