HD Hyundai XiteSolution has begun producing medium- and large-sized electric forklifts domestically

HD Hyundai XiteSolution, under the leadership of CEOs Cho Young-cheul and Lee Dong-wook, has announced the global launch of Korea’s first domestically developed medium- and heavy-duty electric forklifts. Set to debut this June, the new lineup marks a significant milestone in the electrification of industrial equipment and includes eight models with load capacities ranging from 4 to 9 tons.

The company’s latest innovation positions it as the first Korean manufacturer to introduce electric forklifts exceeding 5 tons, an area historically dominated by internal combustion models due to power and endurance requirements.

Key features and technology

The new forklifts are powered by advanced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, offering up to 11 hours of continuous operation on a single one-hour charge with the 93kWh battery variant. This fast-charging capability aligns with the operational needs of busy industrial sites.

In terms of performance, the forklifts utilize high-voltage battery systems paired with high-efficiency permanent magnet motors, delivering torque and power levels that match or surpass traditional diesel engines in the same category.

Built for durability, these models meet the IP67 waterproof and dustproof standard, ensuring stable performance in harsh environments, including shipyards, construction zones, and coastal areas. The forklifts underwent high-intensity water spray and immersion tests to validate their resilience in real-world conditions.

Additional functional features include a battery thermal management system, which helps maintain optimal performance in extreme temperatures, and a creep mode, allowing for precise low-speed control without using the accelerator—particularly useful in tight or sensitive operational environments.

Industrial impact and market outlook

Electric forklifts have typically seen uptake in smaller formats for indoor use, where noise and emissions are key concerns. However, electrification in the medium and heavy-duty segment has progressed more slowly. HD Hyundai XiteSolution’s launch comes as industries shift focus toward ESG goals and carbon neutrality, with advancements in battery technology enabling broader applications.

The company plans to target high-demand sectors such as shipbuilding, port logistics, and construction—industries where diesel equipment remains prevalent. By replacing combustion-powered forklifts with electric alternatives, HD Hyundai XiteSolution aims to support cleaner, more efficient industrial operations.

According to The Business Research Company, the global electric forklift market is projected to grow at a 12% annual rate, reaching $114.9 billion by 2029, up from $73 billion in 2025.

Hur Kwang-hee, Head of the Industrial Vehicles Division at HD Hyundai XiteSolution, said:

“This new model represents a significant step in electrifying industrial vehicles traditionally reliant on diesel. It’s a practical solution for companies pursuing sustainability and operational efficiency. We are committed to expanding our electric portfolio and strengthening the competitiveness of Korean technology globally.”

With this launch, HD Hyundai XiteSolution cements its role in driving the transition toward low-emission, high-performance equipment in the heavy machinery sector.
