India is confirming its dedication to sustainable growth and innovation by achieving notable advancements in the global energy environment. An important forum for promoting international cooperation in the energy sector was the India Energy Week (IEW) 2025, which took place at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi from February 11 to 14. The Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) is hosting the event, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and has grown to be the second-largest energy conference in the world.
A center for innovation and commercial prospects
For global energy professionals, IEW 2025 was an essential gathering that facilitated conversations about the most recent developments in sustainable energy. Key stakeholders from 120 nations attended the event, which offered a useful forum for networking, forming strategic alliances, and exhibiting cutting-edge innovations. Multimillion-dollar corporate deals were made at the show, highlighting India’s pivotal role in determining the direction of energy.
IEW 2025’s primary focus areas
With a focus on biofuels, flex-fuel cars, ethanol blending, and green hydrogen, India is still moving forward with its green energy agenda. By 2030, the nation wants to produce 5 million metric tons (MMT) of green hydrogen annually. By improving regulations, the Open Acreage Licencing Program (OALP) Round X, which covers 200,000 square kilometers, is expected to stimulate investment in the oil and gas industry. India is looking to expand its use of natural gas from 6% to 15% of its total energy mix and fortify alliances in the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The country is also focusing on increasing investments in gas and oil in important international markets, such as Mozambique, Venezuela, Brazil, and Russia.
Pioneering work in CO₂ capture, ESG solutions, and renewable energy was honored by the “Avinya’25-Energy Startup Challenge.” Similar to this, AI-driven advancements in upstream oil and gas operations were recognized by the Vasudha.
Thematic areas fueling the transformation of energy
Nine thematic zones were introduced at IEW 2025, each of which focused on a crucial aspect of the energy industry. Oil India Limited hosted the Hydrogen Zone, which showcased the latest developments in hydrogen fuel technology. The event showcased advancements in compressed biogas, bioethanol, and biodiesel. Solar and wind energy technology are shown in the Renewable Energy Zone. Petronet LNG is the host of the LNG Ecosystem, which focuses on environmentally friendly LNG solutions. Engineers India Limited is hosting the “Made in India Zone,” which showcases domestic energy manufacturing. GAIL is in charge of the City Gas Distribution Zone, which emphasizes the shift to a gas-based economy. Petrochem Zone focused on innovations in petrochemical sustainability, hosted by ONGC. Innovation Zone included new energy solutions and startups. Using automation, IoT, and AI to optimize energy use was part of the digitalization zone.
The dedication of India to a sustainable future
India, the third-largest energy consumer in the world, is making significant progress toward sustainable energy security. India’s five-point pledge to address climate change is outlined in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Panchamrit Initiative, which was unveiled during COP26.
