Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. have inaugurated Mumbai’s first co-branded TATA.ev MegaCharger hub on World EV Day. The facility, located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport within The Leela Mumbai Hotel premises, is designed to support private car users, taxis, ride-hailing fleets, and logistics operators along the Andheri–Bandra Kurla Complex–South Mumbai corridor.
The charging hub is powered by renewable energy and is equipped with eight fast DC chargers with speeds up to 120kW, providing 16 charging bays. The site can accommodate 16 vehicles charging simultaneously and operates 24 hours a day.
Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power, said, “The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we roll out similar hubs in major cities, Tata Power remains committed to delivering clean energy solutions and accelerating large-scale EV adoption across the country.”
Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., added, “Tata Motors has been at the forefront of India’s EV revolution, delivering world-class electric vehicles and supporting a strong charging ecosystem. The inauguration of this TATA.ev MegaCharger – the first of many joint installations – is a significant milestone in our mission to provide widespread, fast, and reliable charging infrastructure in India. We look forward to expanding this partnership to empower EV owners nationwide.”
The MegaCharger hub is part of the wider TATA.ev charging network, which offers benefits such as discounts of up to 25 percent and priority access for TATA.ev customers. Services can be accessed via the Tata Power EZ Charge App, which has more than 400,000 registered users, and will also be integrated with the iRA.ev Connected Car app for TATA.ev owners.
Tata Power has installed over 1,000 charging points in Mumbai and more than 5,500 public and captive points across India. Its network also includes over 1,200 bus charging points and approximately 140,000 home chargers in more than 630 cities and towns. The company aims to scale up to 750,000 home chargers and 10,000 public charging points by 2030.
