NORDEN has confirmed agreements for two additional 17,500 deadweight tonnage (dwt) multipurpose (MPP) vessels, expanding its fleet dedicated to the Projects & Parcelling segment. The vessels, secured through long-term leases with purchase options, are scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
This development follows the recent addition of two similar MPP vessels and forms part of NORDEN’s strategy to establish a core fleet focused on project cargo. The segment is expected to experience increased demand due to a combination of limited newbuilding activity and an ageing global fleet.
The new vessels will maintain the forward-bridge design used in earlier units, aimed at maximising deck space and accommodating complex cargo. They are also biofuel-compatible and designed for energy-efficient operations.
NORDEN entered the MPP segment in 2023 and has since grown to operate a fleet of around 50 vessels that transport wind turbine components, heavy industrial equipment, and other break-bulk cargo. The Projects & Parcelling unit operates within NORDEN’s broader freight service, which manages a global fleet of over 400 dry and liquid bulk carriers.
