Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO), and Oman Aluminium Rolling Company (OARC), have signed an agreement for the supply of green biofuel blends.
the former is a leading marketer and distributor of multi-sector fuel and lubricant products, and the latter is a well-known producer of aluminium sheets in Sohar.
This agreement makes OOMCO the first fuel marketer providing biofuel in the Oman market and OARC becomes the first company in Oman to use such environmentally friendly and cost-effective B5 Biodiesel by OOMCO in a partnership that will contribute to a reduction OARC’s carbon footprint.
The renewable fuel will be produced by Wakud International (Wakud) at their biodiesel plant in Barka’s Khazaen Economic City. Wakud is an Omani SME producing biofuels using recycled cooking oils used by Oman’s hospitality industry.
The decarbonisation partnership with OARC is in line with OOMCO’s continuous commitment to deploying sustainable and clean energy in all its operations. And this is also a first step toward achieving Oman’s 2050 carbon neutrality target as biodiesel B5 is meant to reduce 4.3% of carbon emissions and OARC will use B5 in its Aluminum Rolling operations as a quick win solution in the journey of decarbonisation.
OOMCO has been a leading force in Oman’s transition to a more sustainable and lower carbon future. The nation’s leading fuel marketer has also powered nine of its service stations with solar energy and opened the first green service station in Oman at Rusayl area, which comprises a range of unique eco-friendly features including solar panels, LED lights, a Vapor Recovery System, as well as an electric vehicle charger.
