Sovcomflot takes delivery of LNG-fuelled Aframax oil tanker

Sovcomflot Group said it has taken delivery of its new generation LNG-fuelled 112,600 dwt Okeansky Prospect Aframax oil tanker.

The vessel construction at the Zvezda shipbuilding complex in the Russian Far East was financed by VEB.RF.

The Okeansky Prospect is the lead ship in a series of two Aframax tankers ordered by SCF from Zvezda. The both vessels will be time-chartered on a long-term basis by Rosneft to ship export cargo.

The tankers will use LNG as primary fuel thus cutting CO2 and NOx emissions significantly and bringing particles and Sox emission down to the zero.

The length of the Okeanskiy Prospekt tanker is 250 m, the width is 44 m. The vessel’s ice class 1A/1B allows it to transport oil year-round from water areas with difficult ice conditions, including Russian ports of the Far East and Baltic sea basins.

The vessel will be operated under the national flag of the Russian Federation, the crew of 21 people is fully formed from Russian sailors.

The ship was named after one of the main streets of Vladivostok, the capital of the Primorsky Territory, where the tanker was built.
