Summit at SRM University – AP to Drive Dialogue on Green Hydrogen Innovation

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is set to inaugurate the Green Hydrogen Summit 2025 on July 18 at the SRM University-AP campus, according to SRM-AP executive director of research, Professor D Narayana Rao.

The announcement was made at a press briefing held on Tuesday, where Prof Narayana Rao was joined by SRM-AP pro vice-chancellor Professor Satish Kumar, vice-chairman and managing director of the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) Dr Kamalakar Babu, summit convener Dr M Pardha Sarathi, and co-convener Dr Sujith Kalluri.

Highlighting the importance of the summit, Prof Narayana Rao said green hydrogen represents a transformative shift in energy technology. He noted that it is a renewable and abundant fuel with applications across several sectors and has the potential to drive job creation in manufacturing, engineering, and allied industries.

The summit is scheduled for two days and is being organised in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh, and the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Tamil Nadu.

Prominent figures including Dr VK Saraswat, member of NITI Aayog, Union Minister of State Dr Chandrasekhar Pemmasani, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, and Pro-Chancellor of SRM University-AP Dr P Sathyanarayanan are expected to attend.

The event will bring together industry leaders in hydrogen and renewable energy, with participation from companies such as SUZLON, ACME, NTPC, BPCL, KPI Green Hydrogen, and Yamna Industries.

Discussions at the summit will focus on areas including research and development, innovation, commercial deployment, and policy support in line with the objectives of the National Hydrogen Mission. Dr Kamalakar Babu noted that India is positioning itself as a key player in the global green hydrogen landscape. He added that Andhra Pradesh is actively supporting national energy missions under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and is working to foster a strong ecosystem for renewable energy development.
