Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL) and VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) have signed an agreement to support the adoption of electric commercial vehicles in India, with an initial focus on the recently launched Eicher Pro X range of small commercial vehicles. TPEVCSL is a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, part of Tata Power Company Limited.
The collaboration will combine Tata Power’s EV charging network and customised charging solutions with VECV’s expertise in energy efficiency for electric trucks and buses. The companies will work with Eicher Trucks and Buses customers to facilitate the transition to electric mobility.
According to the partners, the initiative will address barriers such as charging infrastructure availability, range limitations and cost. The agreement also covers future deployment of other vehicles in Eicher’s electric portfolio.
Tata Power said the partnership is aimed at tackling “critical factors that influence the adoption of electric trucks and electric buses” while advancing modernisation of India’s commercial transport sector.
Tata Power currently operates its EZ Charge network across the country, with more than 1.5 lakh home chargers, over 5,500 public, semi-public and fleet charging points, and more than 1,200 e-bus charging points across 630 cities and towns. The network serves over four lakh registered customers.
