Oman and Etihad Rail Company (OERC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel (Jindal), a prominent integrated steel producer in the GCC, to establish a sustainable end-to-end transport logistics solution.
The MoU aims to facilitate the transportation of up to 4 million tons of raw materials and finished products annually from Jindal’s steel complex at Sohar Port to the UAE via the UAE-Oman Rail Network.
This collaboration will enable Jindal to optimise its operational integration, benefiting from the fast, cost-effective, and sustainable services offered by the rail network.
The partnership not only streamlines Jindal’s transportation and logistics operations but also aligns with the company’s sustainability objectives.
By using the Oman-UAE Rail Network, the collaboration aims to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in both Oman and the UAE, in line with their national goals of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The collaboration is a part of OERC’s ongoing efforts to establish commercial and investment partnerships with major international players in various sectors.
These partnerships aim to provide innovative logistics solutions, unlock new economic corridors, and foster sustainable economic growth in Oman, the UAE, and the wider region.
