Cavotec Secures €1.55 Million Shore Power Contract for Port of Antwerp-Bruges

Engineering group Cavotec has secured a contract valued at approximately €1.55 million to supply a shore power system for the Port of Antwerp-Bruges’ cruise terminal. Awarded by Equans and co-funded by the European Union, the project aims to enhance environmental sustainability by enabling cruise ships to connect to land-based electricity while docked.

The shore power system will allow visiting vessels to shut down their auxiliary engines and reduce emissions during port stays, in line with international maritime environmental regulations. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of port operations and promote greener maritime practices.

Cavotec will also provide maintenance services for the installed equipment over a five-year period. Delivery of the system is expected to take place in the third quarter of 2026.
