Dutch hydrogen industry association NLHydrogen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan Hydrogen Association (JH2A) during a Dutch economic mission to Japan focused on energy transition, sustainability, and the circular economy.
The agreement outlines an exchange of information across four areas:
• Technology, including best practices, technologies, and projects
• Value chain development, focusing on linking separate projects and aligning supply, demand, and infrastructure
• Policy frameworks, examining how government parties in both countries facilitate technology and value chain growth
• Coordination on the development of global standards
“I was in Japan on a previous Dutch economic mission in 2019. It’s exciting to see the plans and pilots that I saw then come into fruition today. The consistent commitment to hydrogen that this country shows is exactly what is needed to really make it happen. We’re looking forward to working together with JH2A on our shared mission,” said Marcel Galjee, President of NLHydrogen.
JH2A has been expanding its international collaborations in recent years. In 2024, it signed a strategic MoU with the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC), which focused on ongoing information exchange in coordination with committees and working groups.
The new agreement with NLHydrogen builds on these international efforts, supporting bilateral cooperation in hydrogen technology and infrastructure development.
