Brussels, Belgium — October 6, 2025: India’s JBM Electric Vehicles has introduced its new all-electric city bus, the ECOLIFE e12, at Busworld 2025 in Brussels, marking the company’s formal entry into the European market.
The launch was led by Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Group, the $3.3 billion conglomerate behind the electric mobility manufacturer. The ECOLIFE e12 is designed to deliver up to 400 kilometers on a single charge, featuring ultra-fast charging capabilities aimed at improving fleet efficiency for urban transport operators.
Sustainable and Intelligent Design
The ECOLIFE e12 incorporates a lightweight monocoque stainless steel body and a range of sustainable design features, including seating and interior fabrics made from recycled materials and yarn. The model is equipped with an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) compliant with EU regulations, alongside advanced telematics for real-time vehicle health monitoring and operational analytics.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety systems include JBM’s proprietary Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS), designed to enhance driver awareness and reduce operational risks. Additional technologies comprise an Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Forward Vehicle Collision Warning System (FVCWS), Lane Departure Warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera setup for improved situational visibility.
European Expansion and Operations
Coinciding with the product launch, JBM Electric Vehicles announced the opening of its European headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, which will serve as a hub for marketing, sales, aftersales operations, and strategic partnerships across the EU.
Globally, JBM has deployed or secured contracts for 11,000 electric buses, supported by what it describes as the world’s largest integrated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, based in India with an annual capacity of 20,000 units.
Over the past five years, the company’s fleet has accumulated more than 200 million electric kilometers, transporting over 1 billion passengers and avoiding an estimated 1 billion kilograms of CO₂ emissions, according to JBM’s internal data.
Integrated EV Ecosystem and Net Zero Goals
At Busworld, JBM also presented JBM E-Verse, its integrated electric mobility ecosystem encompassing charging infrastructure, lithium-ion batteries, and power systems designed to enable zero-downtime operations.
The company has committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040. Arya said JBM aims to serve over 20 billion passengers and reach 3 billion electric kilometers within the next three years, aligning its expansion with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to sustainable cities, innovation, health, and climate action.
JBM Electric Vehicles’ portfolio includes city buses, intercity and luxury coaches, and specialized electric vehicles for school, staff, and airport operations.
