UW Group has been added as the latest Incentive Provider in the Green Award programme, expanding the range of benefits available to certified shipping companies.
The maritime services group—through its subsidiaries UMAR Shipping Services and WSR Ship Repairs—offers technical, supply, and ship repair solutions across global markets. Its network supports vessel operators with services ranging from equipment procurement to repair and maintenance.
Under the new partnership, Green Award Certificate Holders will receive incentives on selected UW Group products and services. These include items such as marine lighting and instrumentation, as well as underwater work including hull cleaning, propeller polishing, and inspections.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Thrasos Tsangarides, Chief Executive Officer of UW Group, said the company views environmental responsibility as a priority:
“At UW Group, we recognize the importance of environmental stewardship and see the Green Award programme as a valuable platform to actively support shipowners and operators who invest in cleaner, safer, and more efficient operations. By aligning with this initiative, we aim to contribute to the industry’s decarbonization efforts, encourage higher standards of performance, and strengthen our role as a partner dedicated to long-term environmental and operational excellence.”
Jan Fransen, Executive Director of the Green Award Foundation, welcomed the addition:
“We are delighted to welcome UW Group as a Green Award Incentive Provider. Their global reach, technical expertise, and commitment to sustainability make them a strong partner in our joint mission to promote cleaner, safer, and higher-quality shipping.”Capt. Dimitrios Mattheou, Chairman of the Green Award Foundation, noted that the company’s involvement broadens the incentive options available to certified organisations and supports efforts to advance safety, quality, and environmental performance in the maritime sector.
