Hutchison Ports Thailand Receives Three New RemoteControl Quay Cranes at Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port

Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), the leading port investor in Thailand and operator of Terminals A2, A3, C1-2, and D1-3 at Laem Chabang Port, received three new remote control super post panamax quay cranes at its Terminal D facility in December 2025. This brings the total number of super post panamax quay cranes at this terminal to 17, supporting a quay length of 1,700 metres.

The arrival of these new cranes marks the final phase of Terminal D’s development, which will bolster HPT’s service offerings and container-handling capacity, enabling the terminal to accommodate three mega-vessels and a feeder vessel simultaneously. Following the addition of seven remote control yard cranes at Terminal D in October 2025, HPT now provides a comprehensive range of services achieving superior efficiency.

This new equipment additionally showcases HPT’s commitment to operational excellence across all terminals. It highlights advanced container-handling capabilities powered by the latest technology, including remote control quay and yard cranes and autonomous electric trucks. Furthermore, HPT recently celebrated a milestone of 50 million TEUs of containers handled since its commencement of operations in 2002, underscoring its commitment to sustainable growth and development.

HPT’s Terminal D now has an operating capacity of 3.5 million TEUs which will also strengthen terminal sustainability through the enhancement of safety and the use of electrically powered equipment.
