Kongsberg Maritime to equip two Cadeler wind turbine installation vessels

Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract from COSCO Shipping Offshore to provide an integrated electrical, automation and propulsion package for two new wind turbine installation vessels being built for offshore wind installation company Cadeler.

The two vessels are part of Cadeler’s T-class fleet expansion and are scheduled for delivery in 2030 and 2031. The newbuilds are intended to support the company’s future offshore wind installation activities.

Integrated propulsion and automation package

Kongsberg Maritime’s contract covers a comprehensive technology package for both vessels. The scope includes azimuth and tunnel thrusters, dynamic positioning systems, power generation and distribution equipment, propulsion drives, integrated automation and vessel control systems, and energy management solutions.

The integrated systems are intended to provide precise vessel positioning and operational control while supporting energy-efficient operations during offshore wind installation activities.

The vessels are being developed to meet the requirements of increasingly complex offshore wind projects, including the installation of larger wind turbines and foundations.

Contract builds on Cadeler projects

The latest agreement extends Kongsberg Maritime’s involvement in Cadeler’s fleet through previous vessel projects delivered via COSCO Shipping Offshore.
