Singapore’s Pinnacle Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd has launched its 50th vessel, President 100, which will commence 1,000 hours of real-time trials to assess the viability and performance of B100 biodiesel in marine applications.
Operated by Prestige Ocean Pte Ltd, the vessel will gather data on emissions, fuel behaviour, and operational performance while running entirely on 100 percent biodiesel. The trial programme begins Wednesday 9 July and involves collaboration with a broad consortium of industry and research stakeholders.
Participants in the trials include the Maritime Energy and Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD), Weichai Singapore, China Classification Society, Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd, Abo Shoten Ltd / 株式会社安保商店, Abo Singapore, Wilmar International, Gulf Marine, Amspec Testing and Services, and AYK Engineering and Consulting.
President 100 marks Pinnacle Marine’s first full biodiesel-powered utility vessel and represents a significant step in its shift toward cleaner fuel technologies. The boat was officially launched on Tuesday at a ceremony attended by more than 100 guests, including maritime authorities, shipowners, operators, service providers, engineers, and researchers.
In a statement shared on social media, the company said: “Our latest vessel, President 100, merges legacy and future. Named after our first aluminium boat, ‘President’, and inspired by B100 biodiesel, it leads the charge for our next 50 vessels, many of which will embrace green technology.”
The company also noted the strong turnout from across the sector and expressed optimism about the vessel’s role in advancing biofuel adoption within Singapore’s harbour craft fleet.
