Tata Motors has secured orders for more than 3,400 electric commercial vehicles (eCVs) across freight, logistics and passenger transportation segments, reflecting growing adoption of electric mobility in India’s commercial vehicle market.
The orders comprise approximately 2,000 electric small commercial vehicles (SCVs) and pick-ups, around 900 electric trucks, and nearly 500 electric buses. The vehicles will be deployed across industries including e-commerce, logistics, FMCG, FMCD, urban public transport, cement, steel, mining and airport ground operations.
Commercial EV Adoption Expands Beyond Pilot Projects
The latest order book indicates that commercial fleet operators are increasingly integrating electric vehicles into day-to-day operations rather than limiting deployment to pilot programmes.
According to Tata Motors, the orders span both freight and passenger transport applications, reflecting wider acceptance of electric commercial vehicles in sectors requiring dependable performance, operational efficiency and lower emissions.
The company has expanded its electric commercial vehicle portfolio to cater to different payload capacities and operational requirements.
Broad Product Portfolio Supports Multiple Applications
In the small commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors offers the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intra EV, targeting last-mile and urban cargo transportation.
For medium and heavy-duty operations, the company has introduced models including the Ultra EV, Prima EV 55T electric tractor, and Prima EV 28T electric tipper, supporting applications across construction, mining and long-haul logistics.
Charging and Financing Ecosystem Expands
Alongside vehicle manufacturing, Tata Motors continues to strengthen the supporting ecosystem for commercial electric mobility.
The company has partnered with more than 14 charging point operators to expand charging infrastructure and has collaborated with banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) to improve access to EV financing.
Its Fleet Edge connected vehicle platform and uptime assurance programmes are designed to help fleet operators monitor vehicle performance, improve utilisation and optimise operational efficiency.
Electric Fleet Continues to Grow
Tata Motors said it currently has more than 3,800 electric buses operating across multiple Indian cities, collectively covering over 550 million kilometres.
In the small commercial vehicle segment, the company has deployed more than 17,000 electric SCVs across the country.
As demand for zero-emission commercial transport continues to increase, Tata Motors is focusing on providing integrated mobility solutions that combine electric vehicles with charging infrastructure, financing options and digital fleet management services to support large-scale fleet electrification.
