Taiwanese carrier TS Lines has placed an order with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), for four methanol-ready containerships.
The order covers 5,300 TEU vessels, each priced at around 61.2 million dollars, according to Greek shipbroker Intermodal. The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2028.
This latest order follows TS Lines’ contract last year with another CSSC yard, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), for four larger containerships. That deal included two 14,000 TEU methanol-powered units, which will be fitted with desulfurization, carbon reduction, energy-saving, and drag reduction systems designed to lower fuel consumption and emissions.
