USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released its latest Crop Production report predicts 2023 corn production will be up 10 per cent when compared to last year, reaching 15.1 billion bushels.
Average corn yield is forecast at 175.1 bushels per acre, up 1.8 bushels from last year. NASS forecasts a record-high yield in Indiana. Area harvested for grain is forecasted at 86.3 million acres, unchanged from the agency’s June forecast, but up 9 percent when compared to last year.
According to USDA, 55 per cent of this year’s corn crop was reported to be in good or excellent condition as of July 30, down 6 percentage points when compared to the same time last year.
