Yinson GreenTech and RMS Marine Partner to Advance Marine Electrification in Singapore

Yinson GreenTech and RMS Marine & Offshore Service (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) aimed at promoting the use of electric vessels and sustainable maritime solutions within Singapore’s port limits. The agreement was formalized at the Nor-Shipping 2025 exhibition in Norway, marking a step forward in both companies’ commitment to maritime decarbonisation.

Under the terms of the LOI, RMS will collaborate with Yinson GreenTech to evaluate the integration of electric vessels into its logistics operations. Yinson GreenTech will take the lead in managing the operations and maintenance of the vessels, with a focus on ensuring consistent and efficient performance.

In addition, the companies will work together on implementing Yinson GreenTech’s Marine Digital Platform. This technology will provide greater transparency and enable data-driven decision-making, enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of RMS’s maritime logistics services.

“We are pleased to partner with RMS to deliver innovative green technologies tailored to their operational needs,” said Jan-Viggo Johansen, Managing Director of marinEV, Yinson GreenTech’s marine electrification division. “This collaboration lays the groundwork for deploying cleaner, smarter fleet solutions in support of the maritime sector’s energy transition.”

Cindy Fan, Group Executive Director of RMS, highlighted the broader significance of the partnership. “Our collaboration with Yinson GreenTech underscores RMS’s commitment to aligning with the maritime industry’s decarbonisation goals. The adoption of electric vessels is a strong example of ecosystem-wide cooperation, contributing to Singapore’s ambitions for a more sustainable and resilient port sector. Ultimately, it enables our customers to better monitor, manage, and reduce their scope 3 emissions,” she said.

The LOI builds on the successful outcome of a joint trial held on 23 May at Sudong Special Purpose Anchorage. During the trial, Yinson GreenTech’s Hydromover, an electric harbour craft, was deployed to transport light cargo, successfully demonstrating its operational reliability and potential as a zero-emissions solution. The initiative reflects Singapore’s continued emphasis on clean energy technologies in maritime transport and supports global efforts to cut carbon emissions in port and harbour operations.
