Sallaum Lines has announced the early delivery of the MV Ocean Breeze, a next-generation Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) powered by LNG dual-fuel technology. Built by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding in China, the vessel was delivered on July 18, four months ahead of schedule. This milestone underscores ongoing efforts within the maritime sector to enhance efficiency and adopt low-emission technologies.
The Ocean Breeze is designed to support the transportation of both conventional and new energy vehicles (NEVs), with a carrying capacity of 7,500 Car Equivalent Units (CEUs). The vessel measures 199.9 meters in length and 38 meters in beam, with 13 dedicated vehicle decks. It features a dual-fuel LNG engine, electric RORO systems, and has been built to exceed International Maritime Organization (IMO) decarbonization standards. The vessel is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
The early delivery also reflects strengthened cooperation between European shipping companies and the Chinese maritime manufacturing sector. In this case, financial backing was provided by Shenzhen Capital Group Co., Ltd., which structured a tailored leasing arrangement to support the transaction.
Sallaum Lines has emphasized that the Ocean Breeze plays a central role in its strategy to expand its China-focused global logistics network. As part of this plan, the company has placed orders for six additional green PCTCs with Chinese shipyards Fujian Mawei and CMHI Jinling, and has opened a new office in Shanghai to serve Chinese automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
According to company chairman Sami Sallaum, the collaboration with Chinese partners reflects a long-term commitment to sustainable shipping and international cooperation.
