SMT Shipping, a leading global bulk cargo operator, has implemented Spinergie’s Smart Fleet Management (SFM) system to reduce crew workload and improve onboard data accuracy.
Approximately 30 SMT Shipping vessels use Spinergie reporting across the company’s global operations. The system frees crew members from repetitive, time-consuming reporting tasks while ensuring SMT Shipping remains fully compliant with evolving regulatory requirements.
Spinergie has designed its digital reporting tools to simplify and standardise reporting across any maritime fleet. These tools include guided manual data entry, automatic data population, and robust quality control checks at the point of input. This significantly reduces rework and minimises verification exchanges whilst ensuring data accuracy across SMT Shipping’s fleet.
Crew members enter data only once, which is automatically sent to SMT internal teams, weather routing providers, charterers, and verifiers for regulatory compliance, eliminating the need for crew to fill out multiple forms with the same information.
Fleet feedback has been positive. The system’s design was praised for its simplicity and time-saving features, with one user noting that the interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, requiring minimal training.
“The program has streamlined data entry by allowing information to be recorded once and reflected across multiple reports. This has significantly reduced duplication and improved consistency of the data, said the Master of M/V Caline C, SMT Shipping.
“Our everyday mission is to solve the major pain points faced by owners and operators. One of their most persistent challenges is the significant time crews spend on reporting tasks, especially reporting the same data repeatedly. The feedback from SMT Shipping’s crews tells us we are on the right track. Their success and improved efficiency confirm the value of what we do. When you make life easier for the crew, you set the foundation for a more efficient and safer fleet,” said Jack Madden, UK Team Lead—Client Success, Spinergie.
