Blue Energy Motors LNG Trucks Deployed for JSW Steel Freight Operations

Bombay Logistics has deployed a fleet of Blue Energy Motors’ heavy-duty LNG trucks for commercial freight operations supporting JSW Steel in Toranagallu, Karnataka. The deployment marks the use of LNG-powered trucks for industrial logistics requirements in the steel-producing region.

The vehicles will be used for freight operations associated with JSW Steel, where heavy-duty trucks are required to handle regular industrial transport and long-haul routes.

Why Are LNG Trucks Being Used for Industrial Freight?

Blue Energy Motors said its LNG trucks are designed for high-utilisation commercial and long-distance operations. The company claims the vehicles can deliver up to 20% better fuel efficiency compared with conventional diesel trucks while lowering the carbon intensity of freight transportation.

Thimmaraj Kakarla, Managing Partner at Bombay Logistics, said the decision to adopt LNG was driven by the need for a commercially viable fuel option for the company’s operations. He said the performance and fuel efficiency of Blue Energy Motors’ trucks were key considerations in the deployment.

How Was the LNG Truck Deployment Supported?

Bombay Logistics said Blue Energy Motors provided support during the rollout, including vehicle handover, route planning and on-ground assistance.

Anand Mimani, CEO of EV and New Energy at Blue Energy Motors, said the company’s focus was on meeting the performance and reliability requirements of industrial operations while supporting the broader transition to LNG-powered freight.

Blue Energy Motors’ LNG Truck Fleet in India

The deployment adds to Blue Energy Motors’ presence in India’s commercial freight and industrial logistics sector. The company said it currently has more than 1,400 trucks operating across key freight routes in the country and has recorded more than 100 million green kilometres.

Blue Energy Motors manufactures heavy-duty electric and LNG trucks in India and also provides energy-as-a-service and maintenance support alongside its vehicle offerings.

What Does the Deployment Mean for Industrial Logistics?

The use of LNG trucks in JSW Steel-related freight operations reflects the growing adoption of alternative fuels in sectors that depend heavily on high-utilisation commercial vehicles.

For steel and other heavy industries, fuel efficiency, vehicle uptime and operating costs remain important considerations in fleet decisions. LNG offers an alternative to conventional diesel for certain long-haul and industrial freight applications, while potentially reducing the carbon intensity of road transport.
