Golden Island and Qingdao Port Sign Agreement on Sustainable Marine Fuels

Golden Island Pte Ltd and Qingdao Port International Co., Ltd. have signed a strategic framework agreement to expand cooperation on sustainable marine fuels and develop supply-chain capabilities for low-carbon shipping.

Announced on September 15, 2026, in Singapore and Qingdao, China, the agreement covers cooperation on clean fuels including green methanol, green ammonia and bio-LNG, with the two companies seeking to improve their availability, logistics and adoption across the maritime sector.

Partnership to cover green fuel supply chain

The collaboration is intended to establish an integrated supply chain covering fuel production, transportation, storage, sales and marine bunkering. Golden Island contributes its marine bunkering capabilities, supported by a Methanol Bunkering Licence from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and ISCC EU certification.

Qingdao Port International will provide port and logistics infrastructure, including storage facilities and customs clearance services across its operations in Northeast Asia. The arrangement is expected to support the movement of agricultural waste feedstocks for green methanol production, as well as the storage and transportation of finished fuel products.

The companies said the cooperation is also intended to streamline administrative processes, reduce logistics costs and support compliance with international low-carbon standards.

Focus on wider adoption of alternative marine fuels

Golden Island and Qingdao Port plan to engage container shipping lines, bulk carriers, oil tankers and cruise operators to support the adoption of lower-carbon marine fuels. They also aim to align their business models and develop a shared ecosystem for customers across the clean-energy supply chain.

The partnership will promote green methanol, green ammonia and bio-LNG as alternative fuels for shipping, while combining Golden Island’s MPA-licensed bunkering capabilities with Qingdao Port’s logistics and port infrastructure.
