APM Terminals Pipavav port becomes first gateway for India’s EV exports

India marked a major milestone in its electric vehicle (EV) journey this week as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s new EV manufacturing facility in Gujarat and flagged off the first batch of made-in-India electric cars bound for over 100 global markets.

APM Terminals Pipavav Port has taken center stage in this development, becoming the first Indian port to handle exports of Maruti Suzuki’s EVs. In August 2025, the port facilitated the shipment of 1,534 units of the eVITARA model to the UK and Germany, positioning itself as a critical logistics partner in the country’s green mobility drive.

“This breakthrough shipment shows that Pipavav is not just a cargo gateway but also a catalyst in India’s EV revolution—delivering world-class innovation from Gujarat to the global marketplace,” the port said.

The achievement highlights Pipavav’s strategic role in supporting India’s ambition to emerge as a global hub for sustainable manufacturing and exports. As the country accelerates its transition to cleaner transportation, the port’s contribution underscores how logistics infrastructure is evolving into a key enabler of green supply chains, driving economic growth while advancing climate goals.
